When you separate from someone, I think the real pain comes from not being able to love them anymore as much as you want to. You still want to be there for them. You want to witness all the important moments in their lives. You want to be the keeper of their secrets, their dreams, their heart aches, and their hidden imperfections. But when a relationship ends, it is no longer in your place to do so, and you wonder whether you loved enough. Regret lies in the things you don’t do, the things you don’t say.
